Mallorca - how to choose the best boat trip

Updated: Aug 20

BOAT TRIP OPTIONS DEPENDING ON THE AREA OF THE ISLAND, PRIVATE BOAT RENTAL OPTIONS AND A REVIEW OF MY EXPERIENCE ON A BOAT TRIP IN MALLORCA

Mallorca is one of the most popular islands of Spain and certainly one of the most beautiful. I was completely conquered by the beauty of the landscapes and the paths with turquoise water, the location being in the top of the beautiful places I've been to so far.

Mallorca is part of the Balearic Archipelago and is the largest island in terms of area in Spain, with a total of 3640 square kilometers and a circumference of 312 km. A single boat ride around the island would not be enough to go around it in one day and be able to enjoy the experience at the same time. The agencies that promise you a cruise around the island actually offer a trip around the island in a certain area, depending on the place of departure.

BOAT AND YACHT RENTAL COMPANIES IN MALLORCA

If you are a larger group of people, looking for an interesting location to have a party, or simply looking for a different vacation, then Mallorca is the perfect place. Both on this island and in the entire Balearic Archipelago, there are numerous offers to rent a boat, from simple boats to luxurious yachts with an entire crew.

Below, I leave a list of several search engines (with link, click on the blue/red text) where you can find the most suitable options:

PERSONAL EXPERIENCE IN A CRUISE IN THE NORTH-WESTERN PART OF THE ISLAND OF MALLORCA

Mallorca is one of those places that you have to see from another perspective, so we couldn't miss a boat trip, especially since many of the beaches are very difficult to access from land. Having accommodation in the north of the island, it seemed easier for us to book the boat trip also departing from the north, from the port of Alcudia.

Our choice was a catamaran ride, with stops for swimming and snorkeling. The trip lasted about 5 hours, and on board we had food and drink (drink only during the meal) included in the ticket price. The food was decent, it was served pasta with chicken.

Those who organized this tour around the island provided us with a limited number of paddles and kayaks to explore the small caves when the catamaran was stopped. Unfortunately, not everyone managed to enjoy this experience, because there were not enough for all the people on board.

I was lucky that the water was not agitated at all and in this way I wasn't sea sick and I was able to snorkel. Unfortunately, the sea surrounding the island of Mallorca is quite poor in marine life, so don't set too high expectations for snorkeling.

I expected in that 5-hour trip to see a lot of beaches and places, but that was not the case. We saw only one beach and there were many stops for swimming. Even so, it was a pleasant experience, and the crew on the boat made the atmosphere like a party, with music and good cheer. It is therefore not an experience for those looking for tranquility, but rather for those looking to disconnect from everyday life through fun and interaction with other people (there were 20-30 tourists on board the catamaran)..

CONCLUSIONS ABOUT THE BOAT TRIP IN MALLORCA

A walk or a mini-cruise around the island is one of the activities you should not miss if you arrive in Mallorca. If I could turn back time, I would choose a cruise in the eastern part of the island, or in the Torrent de Pareis - Sa Colobra area. In my opinion, there are the most inaccessible beaches on land, but easily accessible by water, and also some of the most beautiful. For the eastern side, my recommendation is Cala Varquez and the beaches that surround it. The water is an unreal turquoise, and land access to it can only be done if you go on a fairly long hike.
